Dr. Winnick graduated Magna cum laude with Bachelor of Science degrees in Neuroscience and Biology from Brandeis University. He then received his MD degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – New Jersey Medical School.

During his general surgery residency at SUNY Downstate, he was a recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award in 2008.

He plans to continue his surgical training as a fellow in abdominal transplant surgery at New York University and SUNY Downstate.
