Our Team

Dale Distant, M.D.

Dr. Dale Distant is well known for his work and expertise in Hepatobiliary surgery and Transplantation, and has been a member of the University Hospital of Brooklyn, Department of Surgery for more than 15 years.

He trained at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and later specialized in Hepatobiliary surgery and Solid Organ Transplantation at the famous Baylor University Medical Center in Texas. Dr. Distant is also an expert laparoscopist and performs numerous minimally invasive surgical procedures yearly. Over the years, Dr. Distant has provided comprehensive Hepatobiliary and Liver surgery care for hundreds of patients in Brooklyn and the surrounding area.

Wilbur Bowne, M.D.

Dr. Wilbur Bowne is a graduate of SUNY Downstate Medical School in 1994. He completed surgical training at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2002 and research and surgical oncology fellowship (s) at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Thereafter, he obtained additional training during a fellowship in minimally invasive/laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Bowne’s expertise includes liver, bile duct, and pancreatic surgical oncology and is extensively published, as well as a recipient of numerous awards and extramural funding for his research in these areas. Dr. Bowne chose to return to Downstate and takes great pride in being a member of a multidisciplinary team that can handle the most complex patient situation whatever the circumstances or the nature of the problem.
