Dr Hirshberg graduated from the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical School in
Jerusalem and completed his training in general surgery at the Sheba Medical
Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel and the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine, University
of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa.
He completed clinical fellowships in trauma/critical care at the Ben Taub General
Hospital in Houston, Texas and in vascular surgery at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla,
California.
Dr Hirshberg was the founding director of the trauma service at the Sheba Medical
Center in Israel and later was a Director of Vascular Surgery at the Ben Taub
General
Hospital in Houston. In August 2006 he joined the Department of Surgery at
Kings
County Hospital and SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.
