University Hospital of Brooklyn

University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) is quaternary care institution that is the principal teaching hospital of SUNY Downstate Medical Center. The University and the Hospital are proud homes to medical innovation and sophisticated clinical care.

The hospital has approximately 325 beds, and is a parent institution to over twenty residencies and fellowships. The Department of Surgery is comprised of Divisions of General, Transplantation, Cardiothoracic, Vascular and Pediatric Surgery. The residents of the Department of Surgery participate in all clinical and didactic activities of the department. The residents hold an academic rank of the Assistant Clinical Instructor at SUNY Downstate and are an integral part of a teaching team providing education to our medical students.

The institution serves a major hub of surgical sciences innovation and research. A dedicated director of Surgical Research mentors our junior faculty, residents and students producing a large number of clinical and basic science publications and presentations at the most prestigious national meetings.
